PHARP's Statement of Faith

   Members of PHARP believe:

  1. That God is one, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  2. That the Bible is inspired by God and contains all that is needed for true peace-building.

  3. That genuine peace between people is found only through Jesus Christ who is the Saviour and Lord. Therefore we encourage people in conflict to believe the gospel and trust in Christ by obeying His commands given to us in scripture.

  4. That Peace-building and Reconciliation is part of the healing ministry of the Church. Therefore we encourage Christians to resolve their conflicts within the Church which is called by God to restore peace by promoting biblical Justice and reconciliation.

  5. That it is only through repentance and forgiveness that true reconciliation takes place.

  6. That the Holy Spirit is God. As the third person in the Godhead, He indwells every believer upon conversion and enables the believer to live a holy life, to witness in power, and to work for the Lord Jesus Christ who is the true Reconciler/Mediator.

  7. That man was made in the image of God and sinless, but by choice fell out of favor into sin. In God's mercy, salvation comes to every lost and sinful person freely and simply by faith in Jesus Christ, and through regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

  8.  That destructive conflict comes from desires that battle within people's hearts. Therefore we must  know the root causes of conflicts before we try to resolve them. We also counsel parties to find  their fulfillment in Christ, renounce sinful desires and actions that have contributed to conflict, and  seek genuine reconciliation with God and with others.

  9. That God's word is totally authoritative and completely sufficient for all aspects of life, and can apply to every conflict a person can encounter. Therefore we work across the entire spectrum of conflict and help people resolve them using the word of God.
